A job well done!
Colonel Scott Fletcher delivers welcome to NYS small business community during the unveiling of the NYS Small Business Directory at Watervliet Arsenal.
Â
Below is a Letter to the Editor that appeared in Sunday’s Record.
To the Editor:
On July 9, 2010, Colonel Scott N. Fletcher will relinquish command of the Watervliet Arsenal, a position he’s held for almost exactly two years. We all wish the Colonel well in his next endeavor but it is also appropriate to thank him for his service and commitment to our community for the past 2 years. Most importantly, to us at the Partnership, he was a valued partner and champion in our efforts to reinvigorate this site and our achievements are his as well.
Colonel Fletcher came to the Arsenal in 2008 and thanks to his leadership there are many accomplishments we can count. The Arsenal’s community profile was raised to a level many of us have not seen in years. Traditions were started or restored like the Community Covenant Signing, the Arsenal’s participation in Memorial and Veterans’ Day parades and a very successful Family Day this past spring. You may have even seen the Colonel tossing the first pitch at a Valley Cats game. Â
The Army mission celebrated many accomplishments as well under the Colonel’s leadership including the recent completion of the armor plating work to ensure the vehicles our military personnel are using in Iraq and Afghanistan were protected from the threats they encounter.
For the Partnership, we were pleased to have Colonel Fletcher’s support in the grand opening of Vistec Lithography and the announcement of the M&W Group’s relocation of their U.S. headquarters to Watervliet. Two moves that once completed will have created over 200 jobs at this historic site.
The Partnership, and our community as a whole, will be losing a tremendous leader and supporter as we welcome the new commander in July. As we prepare to welcome a new commander, we look forward to continuing the relationship and building on the many successes we have shared together.
Sincerely,
Peter Gannon
President, Arsenal Business & Technology Partnership
