OTO Melara SpA was established in 1905 as Vickers-Terni for design, development, and production of weapons and services for the Italian Navy and Army. In 2004 OTO Melara SpA of La Spezia, Italy founded OTO Melara North America, Inc. (OTO Inc.), a Delaware corporation.
In June of 2011 OTO Inc. opened their facility at the Watervliet Arsenal to establish a maintenance, repair, and overhaul depot for 76mm gun components and other OTO Melara products.
